Module 6 – Plugins, Translation and Commerce
Plugins
A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites.
During the development of your website, several plugins may be added. From managing an online store to the management of a business there are very few limits for plugins. But finding the right one for free requires time and in-depth knowledge.
For the website WOW, I use many plugins. For example, Gutentor a very powerful page builder based on the main editor of WordPress, Gutenberg. The second one, Contact Form 7 that can manage multiple contact forms. Depending if you need translation, I might use Polylang and for commerce Woo Commerce.
Translation
Translating a website into several languages is a long process. You will need to install 2 plugins. Polylang for the administration of the different languages and Duplicate Post to copy the pages to be translated into another language.
Polylang does not include the translation of texts with the free version. The easiest way is to use software like Google Translate and to manually copy the translated texts. Next, you will need to create a menu for the added language and insert a language selector to the right of the menu. Other adjustments will be necessary depending on the theme chosen.
Because of the complexity, if you need your website to be translated in more than one language, the advisor will complete the job for you or give you a demonstration with messenger or skype.
Woo Commerce
If you want to sell products on your website, you will need to install a plugin. Woo Commerce makes creating and managing an online store simple, with reasonable levels of flexibility and several vital features such as inventory and tax management, secure payments and shipping integration. And most of these features are free.
You will find on YouTube the Woo Commerce channel with all the tutorials for starting your woo commerce website.
